I wrote this song in honor of a young friend, Tyler Hastings, whose funeral I recently attended. Most of the attendees were fellow Red Cross workers, all wearing their red shirts in honor of him. Red is usually such an aggressive color, but on this day, I saw it through a softer lens and decided to write about it in the context of mourning and celebration of life. Tyler was one of my Patreon supporters, and he never failed to offer encouragement and humor, not just to me, but to everyone around him. I'm very thankful to have known him.
red today, i’m seeing red todayi’m seeing red today
not in an angry way
red like a cross that saves on disastrous days
or a heart that loves in fantastic ways
read like the cartoons when you’re searching for laughter
red like a curtain that falls from the rafters
at the end of a play, we all make our way off the stage
and i don’t pretend to be certain
but i’m pretty sure that curtain will rise again
it’s just a matter of when
Thanks to the team at Sunshine Sound Center for inviting me to be a recent guest on their awesome San Diego podcast. Listen to the full episode here!
Hello beautiful humans! I'll be hitting the road in just a few short weeks for my Summer US Tour in promotion of my record Lights Out. Hauling ass across the country is no easy feat for a starving artist like me - if you'd like to support my tour effort, please consider becoming a Patreon supporter. It can be scary out on the road by myself, and my supporters make it possible for me to book safe lodging in towns where I don't know anyone with a spare couch. Plus, you'll get your photo on my website and be able to join my VIP facebook group where I post all my rants, raves, and silly moments.
I'm still constantly updating the calendar with shows (and still on the lookout to fill some dates, so hit me up if you have any contacts or want me to come play a house concert for you). Here's what's on deck so far...please spread the word and bring your friends out to support local indie music! Can't wait to see you!
