New single alert! Fortunate Fucker, my new single, is available now on streamers except Spotify, Bandcamp, and my online store. This is the first complete song off the behemoth of a project/album you all know and love (and are probably sick of hearing me talk about by now) called Dead Mom Talking, so I decided to release it as a single to maintain the “hey, Lindsay, you better release at least one song a year or else...” pressure I put on myself for no reason whatsoever. Special thanks to the team of homies who helped make this happen: written by Lindsay White production: Rachel Hall / Will Stucky engineer: Rachel Hall (included real life gravel recording - suck it, AI) mixing: Will Stucky mastering: John McLaggan, Parachute Mastering guitar: Will Stucky vox/bgrnd vox: Lindsay White artwork: sleep-deprived Lindsay White on antibiotics w/ funding and support from The Steam Engine Foundation

Creating this new spin on a summer classic with Rachel Hall was so much fun!
The Boys of Summer - Mariela ft Lindsay White aka The Girls of Summer (Reimagined cover of The Boys of Summer by Don Henley) Original lyrics: Don Henley / Original music: Mike Campbell Updated lyrics by Rachel Hall / Lindsay White Production: Tommy Nixon Guitar: Jordy Searcy Drums: Daniel J Griffo Bass: Tommy Nixon Keys: Rachel Hall Artwork: Grace Johnson Photo: Sydney Valiente Mastering: James McNary Lyrics: Nobody on the road Nobody on the beach I feel it in the air The summer's out of reach Empty shores, empty streets The sun goes down alone I’m thinking ‘bout your face Wonderin’ if you’re home But I can see you- Blowing bubbles in the sun You got your hair pulled back and doc martens on, baby I still smell you on, that blanket we laid on till dawn After the girls of summer have gone I never will regret those nights (those nights) I wonder if it was a dream (a dream) Remember how you called me lady? Remember how I made you scream? (scream) Now I don't understand what’s different about our love But babe, I'm gonna have your back Love ain’t nothing to be afraid of I can see you- Your ice cream dripping in the sun your temporary tattoos and you’re giving them to everyone I can tell you my love will still be holding strong After the girls of summer have gone I heard your name today, from a barista shouting in a coffee shop I turned to look for you, just like I always do, can’t stop, won’t stop I thought i’d lost your number Til I put that jacket on Say anything, and I’ll come over Holding up a stereo on your lawn But I can see you- Blowing bubbles in the sun You got your hair pulled back and doc martens on, baby I still smell you on, that blanket we laid on till dawn After the girls of summer have gone I can see you- Your ice cream dripping in the sun your temporary tattoos and you’re, giving them to everyone I can tell you my love will still be holding strong After the girls of summer have gone
Just back from Dallas/Richardson, Texas, where much to my surprise and delight, I snagged 2nd place (out of like 300 submissions, hair flip) at the Al Johnson Performing Songwriter contest. I brought my girl Rachel along and we had a gay ol time despite the weather thwarting our full set on the City Line stage! Hopefully they'll have us back next year for a do-over! Until then, I'll be dreaming of Torchy's tacos!
Below is a snap of me backstage in the (temperature controlled, thank god) green room, acting like a goober who's never been shown such hospitality. I'll link to the "winners" photo, where as you can see, I've transformed into a sweaty street clothes monster. Thank you to Country Queer for featuring my latest single "No Stopping It' in their latest roundup showcasing some new songs from various artists that all address mental health in some way or another! A subtly addictive, gently rocking groove leads us into San Diego-based White’s latest single, an unabashedly honest appraisal of how she deals with anxiety – for better or worse, but as she notes, it’s “better out than in.” Sweet news! My yet-to-be published song "Roses Are Dead" received Honorable Mention in the Lyrics-only category of the Songwriters Association of Washington's Mid-Atlantic Song Contest! This is my second HM recognition from the org (the first was for "Hands" back in 2016). I'm in the studio now working on production for this song, which will hopefully be a part of an album which will hopefully accompany my book which will hopefully be finished sometime this year or next. (Your girl's got big dreams and limited time, but I'm trying to make it happen!). Want to go behind the scenes as I make this song come to life? Thanks to San Diego Reader for including my new single "No Stopping It" in this week's Local Five column! I appreciate the local love and being included in the company of so many talented musicians!
No Stopping It is here! If you want the full story please join my Patreon or ask your favorite music journalist to ask me. :) But in the meantime I’ll just say this is a song for anyone who is dealing with the physical manifestations of anxiety, grief, trauma, etc. Now that I’m raising a daughter, not hating myself feels more important than ever, so I’ve been working very hard to mindfully befriend my “demons.” Maybe not befriend. Accept? Acknowledge? Allow? What’s like a couple notches above frenemy and a couple below acquaintance? Somewhere in there. Hence, artwork from the one and only @sydney_valiente showing my scarry, scarry legs, which are now just as much a part of me as my dimps. Production-wise, this track is a cross-country collab between me, @adventuresofjj @earthlingstudios and @alexzanderdausch at @studiostudiosmusic. So dang lucky to call these talented folks my friends! And in case anyone’s wondering, I will rewind and playback Alex’s guitar solo TIL I DIE. Anyway hope you love the song like I love you which is a lot. Please share and add to every last one of your playlists, ok maybe just the ones that have titles like “screaming into a pillow” or “driving and cussing.” You can also download the single, artwork, lyric bundle right here on my site! Lyrics: 1. ain't no stopping my frightening appetite i snap like a snake, always take the biggest bite oh, too busy chewing, i know i'm not doing it right oh, no one ever told me how to hold a fork and knife chorus: so i swallow it whole taking it down losing control ain't no stopping it now i regurgitate spit it back out must be something i ate ain't no stopping it now 2. ain't no stopping my rising Fahrenheit i'm sick as a dog, always crying every night oh, reticent to medicine, hesitant to taking care oh, cause when everyone leaves, my disease is always there so i swallow it whole taking it down losing control ain't no stopping it now i regurgitate spit it back out must be something i ate ain't no stopping it now here it comes again better out than in i swallow it whole taking it down losing control ain't no stopping it now i regurgitate spit it back out must be something i ate there's no stopping it now here it comes again Yo! Just a quick pop-in to let you know my new single "No Stopping It" will be coming out on November 25. You can pre-save the track here, or if you don't wanna wait (*cue Paula Cole Voice), head over to my store and get yourself an mp3 download, bundled with art and lyrics for just $5. What a steal. I'll share some more song credits and backstory behind the music in the coming weeks, or if you don't wanna miss a thing (*cue Steven Tyler voice) join my Patreon to be in the know about these sorts of things before everyone else.
Hey pals - just wanted to draw your attention to two upcoming songwriter showcases this weekend. I'm really excited to be sharing the stage with so much quality talent in two really unique spaces. I would come to these shows even if I wasn't performing at them. Hope to see you soon!

Hey pals! I'm excited and a little stunned to share the news that "Piece of Quiet" took home the trophy for Best Folk or Acoustic Song at last night's San Diego Music Awards. As Irene Cara says, "what a feeeeeling!"
I was having a bit of an out of body experience on stage, so I followed that up with a whole gushy FB post thanking all the people who make all the things (not just awards) possible in my life. Scroll down for the whole thing! Thanks to everyone who voted! I reeeeaaallly appreciate your support for this tune and my creative endeavors in general.
